Hiking around Brünig.
Discover the mystical landscape around Brünig.
The unique rolling Brünig landscape interspersed with large granite and gneiss boulders was shaped by a branch of the Aare glacier. The traditional Brünigschwinget wrestling festival has been held in this unspoilt landscape since 1904. Discover this beautiful landscape by foot on a hike through Brünig. You set off from the Brünig-Hasliberg stop through the mystical Brünig Forest in the direction of Lungern. With a bit of luck, you might spot wild animals along the hiking trail, such as deer, chamois or birds of prey.
Trail description
Explore this fascinating natural scenery on foot with a hike through the Brünig, starting at the Brünig-Hasliberg stop and leading through the mysterious Brünig Forest towards Lungern. On your way through this breathtaking landscape, you may be lucky enough to spot local wildlife, such as deer, chamois and majestic birds of prey.
Halfway along the trail you reach the little “Chäppeli” (chapel). It’s a great place to spend some time, as there is a playground in the forest, unique wooden bowling alleys, a barbecue area with a panoramic view of Lake Lungern and the cosy Chäppeli mountain restaurant. To say goodbye, the children can ring the bell in the small chapel. The hike continues past the “Wätterloch” (weather cave) and the “Fluhmattquelle” (Fluhmatt spring) down to Lungern station.
Of course, you can also hike from Lungern to the Chäppeli and beyond.
